For the fifth year in a row, our family visited BC Children’s Hospital on Adaea’s birthday, November 29th. We do our best to make this a joyful day, especially since so many others are filled with difficult memories.

Adaea spent two Christmases in the hospital, and one small source of daily joy was her LEGO Advent Calendar. Each day brought a little smile, and the fact that all the pieces are plastic made them easy to clean—an important detail in a hospital setting.

Thanks to the extra support from our Fall 2024 events, we were able to include even more this year: each LEGO Advent Calendar was paired with a chocolate Advent Calendar and a Starbucks gift card.

During each visit, we also bring lunch for all the inpatient families. Adaea didn’t always have much of an appetite in hospital, but McNuggets were often something she could enjoy. In her honour, we bring McDonald’s Happy Meals and Twizzlers Red Licorice to share with the families on the floor.
